CEO's Note on Real Leaders 2021 Impact Awards

  • 2 min read

Lucky Iron Fish Enterprise (LIFE) is a committed social enterprise dedicated to reducing iron deficiency rates around the world using our simple health innovations. Social and environmental impact is at the core of what we do. Not only are our products helping improve lives around the world, but our business model itself has impact embedded at its core.

We were honoured to be named one of the 2021 Real Leaders top 150 impact companies; a list of impact driven companies that are out to solve massive global problems in a socially constructive way. Companies were evaluated not only on their impact, but their financial growth and sustainability was evaluated as well. Social enterprises need to be sustainable so they can grow and continue to pursue global change.

As a small Canadian start-up, we were honoured to be listed among industry leaders like Danone, Tesla, Patagonia, and Ben & Jerry's.  Personally, these are brands I have looked up to as an impact entrepreneur and I know the entire Lucky Iron Fish team feels a sense of pride for being included on this incredible list.

As our company grows, our impact evolves. Some issues become more difficult, while others provide new opportunities. We are proud that our product has been clinically proven to improve the iron status of its users and reduces iron deficiency in a safe way. Trials have shown improved quality of live, and improved performance in school.  The Lucky Iron Fish can be reused every day for 5 years which helps reduce the carbon footprint for our customers. I also believe in treating our team with respect and empowering them to be changemakers in the community. From paying a living wage to providing time off for employees to volunteer, to our newly updated maternity/paternity policy, we strive to do what we can to support the team who work so hard to make all of our success happen.

I want to thank the entire team at Lucky Iron Fish Enterprise and all of our stakeholders for helping us achieve this honour. We look forward to continuing our mission of improving global health using social conscience business practises.
