We are all in the same boat!

“We do not inherit the earth from our parents we borrow it from our children.” Chief Seattle, circa 1854

#GivingTuesday was one for the books! Thanks to your help, we doubled the social impact with every purchase made yesterday by donating TWO Fish to families in need! Together, we will be able to give away 1280 Lucky Iron Fish to families who need them most!

We were also in excellent company last night at an incredible collaborative dinner at Miijidaa Cafe & Bistro in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Together, with the Neighbourhood Group of Companies (NGC), Wellington Brewery and Ocean Wise, we celebrated our third collaborative dinner. There was no squidding around with the menu which featured sustainable seafood all caught from one boat! Just to give you a taste, the first course was Pacific Octopus, which was delicious (x8).

It is a simple goal that brought the NGC, Wellington Brewery and the Lucky Iron Fish together: the desire to make our planet a better place. Through the help of collaborative dinners, beer fundraisers (featuring delicious Wellington Brew)  and proceeds of the Three Sister’s Ragout (a traditional First Nations dish served at Miijidaa), the Lucky Iron Fish is getting closer to reaching our goal of getting #AFishInEveryPot. Last night, Lucky Iron Fish pledged to match the contributions made by the NGC - doubling the number of Lucky Iron Fish to reach even more families in need in our community. We believe that strong future generations start with healthy communities.

A little bit about the amazing people we have been able to work with:

Neighbourhood Group of Companies operates restaurants that promote locally crafted, natural foods and beverages while championing the farmers and producers that make it. The four restaurants are institutions in the community - Miijidaa Cafe & Bistro, Borealis Grille & Bar and The Woolwich Arrow.

Wellington Brewery is a brewery in Guelph, Ontario. It was established in 1985 and is the first North American brewery to brew cask ale. It is Canada’s oldest independent microbrewery with award-winning beers made using the freshest all-natural ingredients.

Ocean Wise is a Vancouver Aquarium conservation program which works with partner businesses to help make sustainable seafood purchasing decisions. Sustainable seafood can be defined as species that are caught or farmed in a way that ensures the long-term health and stability of that species, as well as the greater marine ecosystem.
